VE Revamp 2024: POP DUETS Group Singing Classes

For those of you who have been taking just 1:1 lessons for the longest time, I don't want you to just show up once a week, sing for 50 minutes, and then not sing for the next 1-2 weeks until we see each other again…
I want to change your place in this world as a singer.
I want to empower you to be:
Comfortable and confident singing with and in front of others
Intentional and effective in your own self‐practice
Musically‐skilled (i.e. able to understand what you’re doing musically and communicate with other musicians instead of just making sounds with your voice)
And so we're going to curate all these wonderful, new experiences for you, starting this June!
For me to have time and energy do that, I will need to limit private lessons with me to a maximum of 2 in June.
I really want to encourage you to give these a try, and shake things up a little!

🧡 “DUETS” GROUP SINGING CLASSES
Building upon Darren's successful work with group singing back in April, we want to keep giving you more opportunities to develop your harmony singing skills this June‐July!

Do you find yourself always wanting to sing with others at karaoke, but only being able to sing the exactly same melody as them (aka singing in unison) because you don’t know how to harmonize?
I know, because that was me for the longest time!
I used to think that vocal technique was all that mattered, and if I put all my time and money into that, I can have the ability and freedom to sing anything I want…
But when I started to have friends who could really sing, I realised one thing — I could not sing in a way that was complementary to them (i.e. by harmonizing).
This June-July, we’ll be having guest coach Steve Soh 苏稳璋, who has amassed over 10k subscribers and 1.7M views on YouTube over the years conduct a series of duet singing lessons, together with me who will be there to help facilitate (and sing alongside you guys).
Having done multiple duet collabs with various hobbyists and professional singers, one of Steve’s most notable duet partners was Lara of 南拳妈妈, the co-singer of 珊瑚海 (Coral Sea) with THE JAY CHOU! (see video above)
In this series of classes, you will:

Mandopop: We’ll start with 小酒窝 by JJ Lin and Charlene Choi (Weeks 1, 3, 4, 6 and 8*)
English Pop: We’ll start with Lucky by Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat (Weeks 2, 3, 5, 7 and 8*)
We may move on to a next song for either class if the learning speed of the group is fast. We’re looking at 屋顶 and Just Give Me A Reason, but it will be open for discussion with those of you in the classes.
Supplementary private lessons (solo and duo) will available for the slower ones!
(*Week 8 is a special session, where both groups will come together for a fun exchange & mini-showcase session) -

Based on the attendance of previous events, we’re expecting our participants to be mostly young adults. -
You will be singing the entire song as a whole group, and also get to partner up with 1-2 classmates from the other group to harmonise with

Exception: June 17th (Hari Raya Haji) where it will be in the afternoon instead

Price: $235 per month (5 sessions) or $52 per single session ($260 for 5 sessions) of Mandopop, English Pop or a mix
(Current students with existing credits may use them to purchase the classes at a discount from the original price.)
If you have purchased a 5-session bundle but can’t make it for a particular session, you will receive a video recording (viewable for 7 days) so you won’t miss out on what was taught!
Your Options:
If you get the 5-lesson bundle and attend the first session but end up not liking it, you will be able to request for a refund for 100% of what you paid for the workshops ($235, including the first lesson fee).

Important things to note:
1. Lessons will be filmed to use as content, so only join us if you’re comfortable with that.
2. We will move on to a second song if the learning speed of a class is fast. We’re looking at 屋顶 for Class A, and Just Give Me A Reason for Class B, but we’re open to discussing it with those of you who are in the classes!
3. For the best experience of our participants, there is a limit of 6 per group per class, i.e. 6 singing the lower part and 6 singing the higher part. So please take advantage of the money-back guarantee and sign up early to reserve your spot!
