How Can We Help Ukraine NOW?
(Figures are accurate as of April 2022)
On 24 February 2022, Russia launched a full-blown attack on Ukraine with the intention to take over the country, much to the indignation of billions of people worldwide.
This has been the biggest war in Europe since World War II, and once in a while on a good day, I ask myself how I and the people around me could be living life as per normal and having fun while millions of other people are fighting for their dear lives and/or suffering immense losses somewhere else in the world.
Although over 4.3 million Ukrainians have left the country since the war started, it is but the minority of their 43 million population, and Ukraine still desperately needs our help.
It is estimated that there are around 6.5 million people displaced inside Ukraine.
As most of you who are reading this will be halfway across the globe from Europe, the most practical ways (as compared to item donation or volunteering at the borders) to help the Ukrainians would be via
1. Monetary donation
2. Spreading the word

What/Who Should I Donate To?
It can be extremely confusing when there are literally so many options out there to choose from, and so I have done my research and compiled a focused list of legitimate charities and funds that render assistance to a few different causes, and you can pick the one(s) that speak to your heart the most.
I would strongly encourage you to pick the monthly recurring donation options if available, because as much as I hate to say this, we all know that the negative effects of the war will linger on for quite some time, and so a one-time donation will not be the most helpful.

3. Psychological Assistance for Children and Families: Voices of Children
As the war goes on, millions of Ukrainian children shudder from explosions and shots.
They wake up with the shrill sounds of sirens and fall asleep in the basements.
Kindergartens, maternity hospitals, shelters where families seek some safety are becoming targets.
The Voices of Children Foundation has been helping children affected by the war since 2015.
Your donation will help them provide assistance to affected children and families from all over the country, giving emergency psychological and psychosocial assistance, and assisting in the evacuation process.

4. Save the Animals: Happy Paw
Many of us are so focused on the depressing impacts the war has had on the Ukrainian people that we forgot about the millions of domesticated and wild animals left behind in the country with a severe shortage of people caring for them.
Happy Paw is a charitable foundation that helps more than 60 shelters throughout the territory of Ukraine.
The ill-effects caused by a lack of manpower has been made worse by the logistical blockage of supply of provisions, and your generosity will help them help more animals and direct more funds to the shelters.
